Curatorial Narrative Abraham Meertens’ “Ontwerp voor kamerversiering met verticaal twee panelen, de onderste met een witte doek op een sterrenfond” is an exemplar of the Dutch Rococo’s peculiar blend of Baroque grandeur and Enlightenment rationality. Executed between 1767 and 1823, this work showcases Meertens’ mastery of fine brushwork, as seen in the delicate rendering of the stars on the upper panel.
